    5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 M&K Volkswoofer V1B Restored (2.9.2013)
    Reviewer: csklsc
In the process of replacing the blown plate amp on the V1B, I noticed the original speaker foam was torn/deteriorated from age. The OC speaker kit had everything necessary to bring it back to life. The supplied epoxy dries fast but there is more than enough time to position the replacement foam before it sets. Surprisingly easy.

I have never repaired any audio component. I saw this repair kit when searching for a repair of my Volkswoofer. The kit was just what I needed for repair. I ordered the kit which came USPS in two days. Following the enclosed instructions, the installation worked out well and my amp is now as good as new. Thanks to the folks from Orange County Speaker for reliable and speedy service.

    4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Re-Edge of M&K MX-125 Subwoofer (1.27.2011)
    Reviewer: Robert
First let me state that this speaker re-edge kit is not perfect, but is probably one of the best kits you will most likely find from any other provider, except a OEM manufacture. Everything was straight forward with good, clear and precise instructions. I had no trouble replacing the surrounds on both of my M&K's 12" woofers and my MX-125 now sounds just as good as new. Now for my 2 little gripes of this kit: The 8 cardboard gaskets that came with my kit were too small in height. Luckily I was able to save and re-use the cardboard gasket that was attached to my forward facing woofer. The gasket for the 2nd woofer which mounts from underneath was not salvageable. That gasket needs to be much thicker then the gaskets which were provided in the kit so the top of the surrounds can clear the recessed wood mounting cut outs. I just used all of the 8 cardboard gaskets that were provided in the kit to give me the proper mounting clearance for that bottom mounted woofer. And my other small gripe is that only one glue brush was provided in the kit. The glue provided is the kit is superb and a very fast drying cement. The cement immediately starts drying on the brush. I'm a hobbyist and have a bag full of these kinds of brushes I use for other projects so it was not a real big deal for me, but for others who may be less prepared in doing these types of projects could present a little grief. These brushes are very cheap and at a minimum 2 should be supplied in the kit as I ended up using a total of 4 brushes to complete my 2 speaker re-edge. These are little gripes and something that Orange County Speaker, Inc can easily address if they so choose, but it shouldn't stop anybody from purchasing their kits. Like I said earlier this kit provided very good surrounds, glue and instructions to get the job done. My situation with the gaskets could just be unique to my M&K MX-125 sub-woofer, but is something that should be addressed since this was advertised as a M&K Sub-woofer specific kit which is why I can only give it 4-stars instead of 5.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Original MX-1000 Owner (11.16.2010)
    Reviewer: Nat
I have MX-1000 #94 which we purchased in 1989. After many years of service the left channel started to rattle and I thought I was in for a huge disappointment. After M&K went under and was later revived I was not sure was going to be able to get the same dual voice coil cones to replace the originals. Turns out that the problem was only misalignment of the cone due to the deterioration of the foam surrounds. I ordered the kit and spent less than an hour doing the repairs and everything is back to new! Thanks for the easy fix.

    Reviewer: Taylor Clark
I picked up an M&K V2B on ebay a while ago, since I remember when this was a new speaker it was one of the best. It still is. But after a couple of years, the foam failed. This speaker has a dual voice coil driver, and lord knows where you can find one of those now. Enter these guys: Orange County Speaker and their re-edge kit. It comes with two sets of foam, you only need one. Even comes with the glue and a brush, you'll need a utility knife and something to unscrew the woofer. That's it. The job turned out to be much easier than I expected and I'm up and running again. The instructions were great. Highly recommended. I'm bookmarking

    Reviewer: Dale Lazar
After 20 years of use in South Florida, my M&K Subwoofer finally began to dry rot at the foam edging. After surfing the web for place to send my speakers to get them repaired, I stumbled across Orange County Speaker. I decided to try the kit they had to repair my speaker in lieu of the hassle and cost associated with shipping them to a repair shop. I received the product in less than a week. The instructions were easy and my speakers are now back to new. I would recommend this repair to anyone. The process is simple and inexpensive.

    Reviewer: Theron Pogue
Not hard to do. Hard to get the speaker out of the box, but the refoaming was pretty easy. New foam fit great, no trimming required. Gaskets were a perfect fit as well. The kit was for 2 speakers, and I have only one, so I guess I have a spare. Hopefully it will stay fresh. Be ready to work pretty fast, as the glue gets real sticky in a hurry, but that makes it easier to get it to stay in position, and it sticks well.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Refoam of a 21 year old M&K Subwoofer (7.29.2009)
    Reviewer: Lee Halverson
Thanks for an excellent product!! I was not happy about the prospect of spending another $450 to replace my old “tried and true” subwoofer. The M&K factory told me a replacement speaker would cost $150, plus freight. After looking for another way to revive my subwoofer, I found the Orange County Speaker website and was surprised to find out how inexpensive and easy it was to repair. The product was exactly “as advertised” and the instructions were easy to follow and understand. I’m a happy camper again, enjoying the sound of my repaired speaker….that sounds just as good as the day I bought it!!
